Sports Illustrated (or what is left of it) has named Serena Williams “Sportsperson Of The Year” for 2015.
The news came with some controversy because some believed the horse American Pharaoh should have got it. But the award is for a person and not a horse.
Serena Williams is a lovely woman who has faced too much racist commentary from some very sick and largely anonymous sources. Those people will suffer continued mental anguish as more black women rise to high pop culture status.
Meanwhile congrats to Serena Williams.
