Marcus Mariota Titans Read Option Fake Pass Stopped By Dolphins

The Tennessee Titans installed their version of the devastating read option fake pass and the Miami Dolphins figured out how to stop it. The same play that stung the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week one of NFL 2015 and resulted in a 48 yard touchdown pass, was intercepted for a pick six by the Dolphins in week six.

The key; leaving the slot corner stationed 7 to 10 yards off the line and head up on the slot primary receiver. The cornerback just reads the QB and when he cocks his arm to throw in that direction the CB is in position to pick it off.

If other teams copy that and stop assuming the QB will run that play will go the way of the dinosaur.

This should show how important scheme is in a quarterback’s success or failure.
