Libby Schaaf Leads Oakland Mayor’s Race Poll By Zennie62
Libby Schaaf leads Oakland Mayor’s Race Candidates in this blogger’s first poll based on anecdotal information gathered from daily talks with Oaklanders, some insiders some not.
The tally of those most likely to pick up first place votes is as follows: Libby Schaaf, Rebecca Kaplan, Joe Tuman, Dan Siegel, Jean Quan, Bryan Parker, and Courtney Ruby.
By contrast, Libby is reportedly fourth place in the upcoming Jobs and Housing Poll.
The information is based on talks with just about 100 people over the course of the last few months and more intensely over the past two months. The people I have talked to are 70 percent white, Lake, East Oakland, and North Oakland and Oakland Hills dwellers.
Of them, Ruby is picking up more mention, even though I am not sold on her as being a good selection and think she would be a terrible Mayor of Oakland. (I could be swayed.).
I am concerned that Bryan Parker is not catching on as I thought he would. As one person said “What is his brand?” I think he is the best candidate followed by Schaaf and Tuman, so this report is not reflective of my desires.
But I do think some of the issue may very well be race with respect to the hill area people. I don’t have a firm grasp on this and I’ve talked about it with some Oaklanders who pay attention to the race.
I am calling it as I see it.
