kaneandersonJason Kane Anderson is the Oakland Green Party’s candidate for Mayor of Oakland according to Don Macleay, the head of the organization, and in a conversation we had this morning. (I have to thank both Don and Jason Kane Anderson for the scoop that Don said Mr. Anderson wanted me to have.)

Jason Kane Anderson, or “Shake” Anderson, is a 38-year-old Oaklander who grew up in West Oakland and lives in East Oakland. According to Macleay (who notes that Anderson has the official endorsement of the Oakland Greens) Anderson is best known for his involvement in Occupy Oakland, and against the actions of the notorious “Black Bloc”. Anderson is a supporter of the Oakland Police Department and has expressed sympathy for their position and some actions with respect to Occupy Oakland.

As of this writing, Jason Kane Anderson has not yet filed for Mayor Of Oakland, but plans to make himself official in the coming two weeks, and not just with the filing, but with a press conference.

Anderson joins a crowded field of candidates that includes Port of Oakland Commissioner Bryan Parker, the incumbent Mayor Jean Quan, Oakland District Four Councilmember Libby Schaaf, Famed Anti-Crime Activist Patrick McCullough, Tax Accountant Nancy Sidebotham, TV Personality and Professor Joe Tuman, and Oakland Lawyer Dan Siegel.

Stay tuned.
