Gilbert’s projected to be drafted somewhere between rounds two and four, but now that he’ Leigh’s client, his profile is going to be that much higher; the 2nd round seems a good possibility depending on how well his pro-day goes.

In short, Leigh Steiberg’s client may not be the bonafied number one pick in the NFL Draft, but he’s the kind of talent that could find his way into the lower part of the NFL Draft 1st Round if he tests well in the coming weeks and months. Remember, he was at one point the starter for the Texas Longhorns and one of the best QB’s in the nation coming out of high school.
Garrett Gilbert is good enough an NFL Draft prospect for a team like the Houston Texans, which is looking at quarterbacks, to actually trade down and gather more picks, with the idea of getting him either late in the 1st round or early in the 2nd round.
