Mike Shanahan is racist in his treatment of Robert Griffin III. Normally, a coach lets his star QB playout the season, and not benches him even though he’s healthy. But here, Mike Shanahan installed a Read-Option Offense, but only let RG3, and not Kurt Cousins, run it, and Coach Shanahan seems to be working the idea of getting his black QB injured so he can start the guy he really wants under the center, his white guy, Cousins.
Both Mr. Cousins and Mr. Griffin are being used as pawns in Mike Shanahan’s game of “I’ll show you I’m boss man on the plantation.” He did this once before with his last black QB, Donovan McNabb, but Shanahan went a step further and said that McNabb wasn’t intelligent enough for his system.
Now, he’s got a smart black guy in Robert Griffin III, and rather than deal with his reasoning and questioning, Shanahan would rather bench him.
The fault of the Washington Redskins poor performance rests squarely on the shoulders of Mike Shanahan. The Coach should have realized he needed to adjust his approach in 2013, because many teams spent their entire offseasons trying to master defending their offense.
And former Oakland Raiders Head Coach John Madden said it best: you owe it to the NFL to put your best players on the field each week.
The Washington Redskins should fire Mike Shanahan.
