Just before the Tuesday trade deadline, the Baltimore Ravens added depth to their running game by signing former Cincinnati Bengals running back Bernard Scott.

Scott was drafted in 2009 and played four years in Cincinnati before an ACL injury sidelined him in week five of last season. He was released on September 17.

Mainly used on third downs, he averaged 4.1 yards per carry. Scott’s best season was 2011 when he ran 112 times for 380 yards.

So far, starting running back Ray Rice has had a less than stellar season and back-up Bernard Pierce is battling a hamstring injury. The addition of Scott beefs up the depth chart; he can also be used on kick returns where he averaged 24.5 per carry in Cincinnati.

When head coach John Harbaugh asked he soon he will play, he replied:

“I think we’ll just play it by ear,” Harbaugh said. “We’ll have to see how it plays out; it’s hard to say. We’re going to get him ready as quickly as we can and there’s no reason he can’t get up to speed very rapidly.”

Will the Ravens sign another wide receiver? Inquiring minds want to know. Rumors are circulating about Tennessee Titan Kenny Brit. We have to wait and see if the Ravens do anything before the trade deadline on Tuesday.
