Ravens Trade Colts for RB Delone Carter

The Baltimore Ravens traded wide receiver David Reed to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for running back Delone Carter.

Carter, a 2011 fourth-round pick from Syracuse, is starting his third season in the National Football League. He played in 10 games last season; ran the ball 32 times for 122 yards and three touchdowns.

The 5’9, 232 lb. running back could help the Ravens in short-yardage situations.

He will complete for a backup spot with Anthony Allen, Bobby Rainey and Damien Berry. He would add to the depth chart at the running back position behind Ray Rice and Bernard Pierce.

David Reed didn’t make a good impression during training camp or in first two preseason games. He battled injuries during his three-year career with the Ravens. He was a good special teams player, but the Ravens don’t need him there this season.

If Carter makes the roster, he won’t get many carries and that’s fine, I’m happy that they off loaded Reed. I was never a fan, he was injury prone and never lived up to the expectations the Ravens had for him.
