Indeed, the search term “Golden State Warriors” was number one in Google Trends on May 13th. That’s the first time such an event has happened, but the City of Oakland and Oakland-based businesses did nothing at all to take advantage of the moment, and have not done anything on this Tuesday.
Today is the 5th game of the series, played in San Antonio. There will be a game 6 in Oakland on Thursday. There’s time for Oakland to make sure ESPN shows it, and not San Francisco. Time for Oakland-based businesses to prepare by doing online ad-buys. Time to get it right.
