The Met Gala. If you’re anything like this video-blogger, and you’d have to be to have even read this far, you’re hungry to feel like you were actually there. Have no fear, Zennie is here, with an approach that should wet your whistle. So with that, let’s get a glimse at the The Costume Institute Gala from a social media perspective.

Like Jennifer Lawrence’s totally funny photobomb of Sarah Jessica-Parker:

And there’s the Tout’s of fashion writer Laurie Brookins, like this one:

And this one…

The video above Ms. Lawrence’s photobomb is the actual, recorded livestream of Sunday’s Red Carpet at The Met Gala. The result of a little programming knowledge, it sets the tone for the rest of this post. And it, in a way, sets up a discussion of the celebrity guest list, famously assembled by the editor in chief and artistic director of Conde Nast, publisher Vogue Anna Wintour, and Vogue staffers.

And who was on the list? Here they all are and in no particular order: Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Adam Shulman, Rita Ora, Sienna Miller, Jessica Pare, Karen Elson, Tiger Woods, Lindsey Vonn, Lauren Santo Domingo, Riccardo Tisci, Madonna, Frank Ocean, Alexa Chung, Bee Shaffer, Beyonce Knowles, Blondies, Cara Delevingne, Carine Roitfeld, Carlos Souza, Coco Rocha, Ginny Goodwin, Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Morrison, Jessica Alba, Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Madonna, Nicole Richie, Katie Holmes, Miley Cyrus, Cameron Diaz, Carey Mulligan, Dakota Fanning, Donatella Versace, Heidi Klum, Jennifer Lopez, Jimmy Fallon, Jerry Seinfeld, John Krasinski, Jessica Biel, Julianne Hough, Karolina Kurkova, Kate Beckinsale, Kate Bosworth, Katy Perry, Kristen Dunst, Olivia Wilde, Paloma Faith, Rooney Mara, Sarah Jessica-Parker, Taylor Swift, Jordan Dunn, Ashley Madekwe, Tom Ford, Joan Smalls, Ziyi Zhang, Uma Thurman, Solange, Nicki Minaj, Michelle Dockery, Michelle Williams, Minka Kelly, Marion Cotillard, Maggie Gyllenhaal, The Hilfigers, Stacy Keibler, Sofia Copolla, Marc Jacobs, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Nora Zehetner, Zachary Quinto, Tom Brady, Miranda Kerr, Nina Dorbrev, Lala Anthony, Kristen Stewart, Kerry Washington, Jennifer Lawrence, Gwyneth Paltrow, Florence Welch, Eve, Emma Watson, Chanel Iman, Blake Lively, Anja Rubik, Amare and Alexis Stoudemire, Allison Williams, Ashley Greene, Ashely Olsen, Aubery Plaza, Bella Heathcote, Brooklyn Decker, Carolyn Murphy, Cara Delevingne, Chloe Sevigny, Christina Ricci , Claire Danes, Coco Rocha, Doutzen Kroes, Elizabeth Banks, Emmy Rossum , Felicity Jones, Emily Blunt, Emilia Clarke, Elle Fanning, Ginnifer Goodwin, Gisele Bundchen, Greta Gerwig, Hailee Steinfeld, Giuliana Rancic, Ivanka Trump, Jamie King, James Marshall, Elettra Wiedemann, Prabal-Gurung, Jennifer Morrison, January Jones, Jessica Hart, Julie Macklowe, Karen Elson, Karlie Kloss, Kate Upton, Kelly Osbourne, Kate Mara, Kylie Minogue, Leelee Sobieski, Lena Dunham, Linda Evangelista, Mary Kate Olsen, Constance Jablonski, Chelsea Clinton, Alexa Chung, Alicia Keys, Emma Roberts, Giovanna Battaglia, Joely Richardson, Daisy Bevan, Renee Zellweger, Vanessa Redgrave, Psy, Marissa Mayer, Andrew Bolton, Hilary Rhoda, Rachel Roy, Hamish Bowels, Robin Givhan , Chris Brown, Greta Gerwig, Mindy Kaling, Joshua Jackson, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Lily Cole, Karlie Kloss, Liya Kebede, Marina Abramovic, Livia Firth, Carina Lau, Andre Leon Talley, Amber Heard, Dree Hemingway, Pixie Geldof, Eric Wilson, Grimes, Grace Coddington, Stella McCartney, Zooey Deschanel, Debbie Harry, Caleb Followill, Marion Cotillard, Gerard Butler, and Andy Cohen.

If I’m not mistaken, that’s the most extensive list of Met Gala celebrity attendees online. But the blog Fashionista has an excellent breakdown of which brand paid for which celebrity to attend the event.

Now, on to interesting social media content, like Andy Cohen fooling around with the Vine app:

This Vine by Eric Wilson gives a lesson on how to greet Ms. Wintour:

What would a party be without a Vine of J-Lo’s butt?

Pop Sugar’s Sharing What It’s Like To Be On The Red Carpet:

As to the best look?

Personally, I like the elegance that Lindsey Vonn pulled off, as well as Rooney Mara, one of my favorite actresses, in in Givenchy. And Ivanka Trump in Juan Carlos Obando was stunning, as was Miley Cyrus in a mesh dress by Marc Jacobs.

But overall, I’m not down on the Punk theme because it reminds me of this whole, rather destructive move toward austerity economics. Then, I think of women with hairy armpits, too many tatoos, and no deodorant and get totally turned off.

At least The Met Gala’s over and thankfully few of the celebs actually reflected true, 80’s style punk.

Stay tuned.
