UPDATE:

This Twiter tweet, put out by the Boston Police at 8:58 PM, has been retweeted over 90,000 times, and is headed to a point to break the re-tweet record:

But the main news is that 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is in custody. It brings to an end a manhunt that started Monday, after the fatal detonation of two bombs at the finish line of the Boston Marathon, and ended today, within the week.

Along the way, the episode contained a number of media misteps, and a number of media firsts. But the main process was what led up to the successful capture of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

And thankfully, at least one of the Tsarnaev brothers is alive.

To look at that in depth, another blog post is coming.

Stay tuned.
