Alleged rapist, and ex-Seattle Seahawk, Jerramy Stevens, and Hope Solo, two-time Olympic gold medalist, and runner-up in the FIFA Women’s World Cup, wed hours after their appearance in court, Tuesday, November 13th.

According to reports, the couple had only been together for two months before filing for a marriage license. With a rap sheet like Mr. Stevens’, which is longer than a fresh roll of toilet paper, I’m not sure what the rush was for Ms. Solo.  Is she pregnant?

If his legal troubles in the not-so-distant past weren’t enough, the couple appeared in court on the afternoon of their wedding day. Stevens’ was on trial for assault in the 4th degree.  Solo was named as the victim.

However, the judge released Stevens on the basis of their being “zero” evidence of him assaulting Solo.  The incident did not affect their wedding plans as they were set to wed at 5PM that day, and they did.

If you’re a fan of Hope Solo, then you probably feel as uneasy about all of this as I do.  Based on the Seattle Pi article on the court case, it sounds to me like there was a physical altercation between the couple on the evening that Stevens was arrested.

Solo’s aunt, Kathleen Shaw, claims the entire altercation was made up.  However, Stevens admitted to police that he and Solo had fought over where they would be living after they wed.  Given that Shaw is a family member, and what Stevens had told the police, her comments make way for more questions.  Who’s telling the truth?

The case is still under investigation.

If Stevens’ past is an indication of his future, I suggest that Solo runs like Hell.  If not, and he has changed, I wish them both the very best.  We’re just going to have to wait and see.
