There’s a guy running around the Internet named Phil Stubbs who issues copyright takedown notices for clients he claims to represent via a firm called Net Results. Net Results website says it’s located in London, but has no physical mailing adress. All of the clients the firm says it represents and has logos on are based in England.
So why did Phil Stubbs file a takedown notice of my Atlanta Falcons 4-0, Cam Newton Sulk Justfied video and why did YouTube honor that claim? Moreover, why did Phil Stubbs use a gmail account as his point of contact and not an email account associated with the website and domain name for Net Results?
Moreover, why did Phil Stubbs not respect the fact that it was in this blogger’s fair use legal rights to use just a few seconds of video, and then with my voice over the action?
I have a counter-claim filed with YouTube. But YouTube has failed to contact me to acknowledge the receipt of my counter-claim. Moreover, I have not received an official email complaint. I saw the notice on the YouTube site itself – normally an email is sent.
Indeed, YouTube says I should get an email in its text.
I take these accusations very seriously as I work to avoid such issues in the design of the video itself. Thus, I will fight this with every tool, breath, and process I can think of.
