The Seattle Seahawks beat The Green Bay Packers 14 to 12 on perhaps the most controversial NFL game since the Oakland Raiders beat the San Diego Chargers in the “Holy Roller” game in 1978.
In that contest, a Ken Stabler fumble rolled forward, kicked by a Pete Banazak, until it reached the end zone, where Dave Casper fell on it to give the Raiders the win.
Fast forward to the Monday Night Football Game of last night – a game this blogger only saw part of to catch a flight to from Denver to San Francisco.
In this preliminary recap, it looked like it was caught mostly by Green Bay, but the Seahawks’ Golden Tate got enough of a hand in the reception to give the refs the reason to make the call for Seattle.
In those cases the bias has always gone to the offensive team.
Many outside Seattle think the Replacement Refs made a mistake, and now the call is on to have something done ASAP. But this blogger thinks the NFL Refs would have made the same call 50 percent of the time.
