Congratulations to the San Francisco Giants, who on Sunday, were crowned MLB National League Western Division Champions for the sixth straight time, with an 89-64 record.

The SF Giants got the NL West, even with the 50-game suspension of All-Star game MVP Melky Cabrera. When that happened, baseball pundits seemed to write off the SF Giants. But they forgot the organization’s real secret weapon: General Manager Brian Sabean.

Mr. Sabean has expertly guided the SF Giants through changes in management and in ownership. Through it all, he’s worked to maintain a championship mix of players. “We have remnants from the 2010 team that won the World Series and some other veterans who have been around the block, and we’ve got some young guys who are coming into their own,” Sabean said to the USA TODAY. “So, it’s a very diverse group. I’ve said it before: They love the game of baseball. They respect the game, and they play for 27 outs and try to win each inning. I think that’s one of the reasons, as crazy as it sounds, we’re up by 11 games.”

Congrats to Sabean and The San Francisco Giants.
