Congrats to Livebolt, The TechCrunch Disrupt Hackathon winner.
The original plan for this blogger didn’t include TechCrunch Disrupt SF because of family obligations after the Democratic National Convention. But all of that took even greater importance after my Mother and Stepfather were robbed at gunpoint last Wednesday Night in Chicago.
So, here is where this blog post is being written – Chicago. Meanwhile TechCrunch Disrupt is underway, and here’s to a great several days. The TechCrunch Disrupt Hackathon produced a winner out of 147 contestants giving 60 second pitches, well winners: Livebolt, with Auctopus and HeatData the runners up.
Livebolt is a, well, this works: “Livebolt is a cloud based identity management system that consists of a 60$ block that slides on the back of the lock. That block links to an iPhone app that lets you authorize piece of metal that actually locks and unlocks the door.”
Auctopus – well, Auctopus needs to fix their fucking website: Auctop.us. When I went to the site for this online DIY auctions startup, the damn thing wouldn’t open.
HeatData – That’s a kind of mobile analysis of what you might look at when using a mobile app.
But I have to ask, is this the best the TechCrunch Disrupt SF Hackathon judges – Kent Brewster, Greylock principal Josh Elman, Google+ Product VP Bradley Horowitz, Science co-founder/partner Peter Pham, Vivek Ravisankar, Yahoo! research scientist David A. Shamma, and Menlo Ventures Managing Director Shervin Pishevar.- can do?
Out of 147 contestants? This blows. Sorry, it just plain does blow.
