Hope Solo says Canadian National Women’s Soccer Team Player Christine Sinclair “the best in the World,” on the heels of a comment reported by Yahoo! Sports as Solo saying “We made her look good,” after the USA beat Canada 4-3 in a dramatic come-from-behind victory, Monday, where Alex Morgan used her head in beating the country up North.
While the Hope Solo comment was literally buried down in the Dan Wetzel blog post, it was picked up and given a spotlight on Twitter, where it grew legs and was communicated around the World. Soon, Canadians were complaining about “Ugly Americans,” even as Americans could gripe about the Canadians dirty play in the game. Solo’s alleged blast (I still hold that video’s the best tool to verify such comments) threatened to overshadow what has become the biggest game of Team USA Women’s National Soccer Team’s collective life: the USA v Japan rematch of the Women’s World Cup Solo and her teammates lost just over a year ago.
Solo’s greatest save to this Olympics was also off the field. She used Twitter to deliver a credible save:
Ive said it all along…Sinclair could be the best player in the world. My hat goes off to her and the Canadian team.

And while some on Twitter were less than gracious in their response to her Twitter Tweet, the bottom line is Hope Solo cleaned up her alleged mess. Now the focus can go back to thinking and prepping for the epic battle against Japan this Thursday.
Nice work, Hope!
