I have lived in Adams Point for 13 years. I reported suspicous activity Friday morning to the non emergency OPD line. I want to make sure that you are aware of it as well.

Friday morning at 8:10 am I left 377 Palm Avenue headed to work. While standing in front of the building zipping my jacket a man approached me in a work vest. He identified himself as a Cal Trans worker and said that he needed to get into the building to check our meters. He started towards the door and asked to speak with the manager. I told him we did not have a building manager and asked if he had an appointment. He turned around and came back towards me. Again, he repeated that it would only take a few moments to check the meters. I asked him if I could talk to his supervisor. He went over to his new looking white truck (no CalTrans logo was on the door) across the street. He came back and said his boss was working on another street and he would drive around the corner and get him if I just waited. I said okay. He never returned.

As we all know Cal Trans does not check meters!

As I have said before, talk to the people around you, as that person did. Don’t let people in to your apartment complex that you don’t know. Look out for your Oakland neighbors!
