District Oakland is a new bar and restaurant that is the sister of District San Francisco on Townsend, not far from the ball park. District Oakland occupies the space once filled by LeVende East at the corner of Washington And 9th Streets in Old Oakland, across from the old B Restaurant, which is being transformed into a new eatery. Grand Avenue Gets Food And Bar Offerings

Believe it or not but the stretch of Grand Avenue between Mac Arthur and Harrison is actually offering great places to eat. There’s ZZA’s of course, but ZZA’s Etonica next door has a great wine selection, and the best Lasagna in Oakland. Then Sidebar’s just a door or two away, and that’s a great setting for dinner and drinks, with a top-knotch selection of meat dishes.

Then there’s Coach Sushi just down from Sidebar, and you don’t have to guess what they specialize in. But keep going down Grand toward Staten, and you have The Round Table Pizza establishment. But if you don’t want pizza, you can opt for the more California cuisine offerings at the new 388 Kitchen on the same side of the street.

Across the street is a brand new Indian Food restaurant that occupies the space of the old Golden Lilly Restaurant and is next to Room 389. Or if you want Thai food, that’s just next to 388 Kitchen – then the long time Korean Bar BQ is just a door down. After that, the new and famed Enssaro restaurant has what many say is the best Ethiopian food in Oakland, if not the Bay Area.

But we’re not done. Want a great burrito? Check out Los Cantaros on 336 Grand Ave. And if you want a taste of Mediterranean, there’s Bacheeso’s on 246 Grand Avenue – great place and fun people.

So there it is. Adams Point residents can walk to get great inexpensive food, and leave the car at home.

You may have seen my Tout videos on the construction of the new corner at Lake Park; here’s the latest one:

The problem is, according to the manager at Lanesplitter Pizza, the City Of Oakland never bothered to approach the businesses to let them know what was happening. The City just started the work. That’s dangerous. Any business owner that believed their business suffered from this action – or lack of – could sue the City Of Oakland.

Folks, I know I’m way behind on videos. Catching up!
