Creflo Dollar’s a well-known Atlanta-based (College Park, Georgia and not far from me as of this writing) pastor who’s gained fame and some measure of fortune from his ministry – not to mention a lot of anger from those who think he uses religion as an excuse to rub the nose of others in the idea that he’s rich and something’s wrong with them because they’re not – has a paragraph on his website that he obviously didn’t remember during his rough-house punishment of his daughter (where he allegedly choked her, and other account now say he threw a shoe at her):

To reach your prescribed destination in life, you must follow the set path that God has established. Continuing to go in the wrong direction will only lead you further away from His blessing. In Walking in the Spirit: You Are What You Think, Volume 2, Dr. Creflo A. Dollar explains the importance of living a spirit-led life. By meditating on God’s Word daily and staying in His presence, you will realize your dreams and experience the successful life God promises. Your best life is yet to come!

Whatever devil got into Creflo Dollar last night, it’s clearly changed his life. His daughter called 9-11, police came to arrest him, did, took him to Fayette County Jail where he was held overnight while posting a $5,000 bond. The morning he was released, Dollar was greeted by a Channel 2 News Crew – the only news organization out there, as a friend of the reporter got a tip from someone who knew about Dollar getting arrested. Creflo Dollar said nothing to the reporter.

How do I know this? We watched it, my Mother and I, and after I’d walked in from watching the movie Prometheus. The first bit of information surprised me was that Rev. Dollar lived so close to us – even though his house is much larger (10 acres to our 4.)

(And my Mom’s view of Mr. Dollar isn’t all that great because his church tried to recruit she and my late stepfather aggressively, as his church thought they were “successful”; Creflo Dollar’s associates told Mom she would have to show her income tax statement. That was the end of the deal for her.)

Now, many have questions for Creflo Dollar. But for me, it’s obvious the man was pushed to the brink by an unruly 15-year-old. I say “pushed to the brink” because choking her wasn’t necessary at all. But on top of that, some will wonder if such behavior was standard operating procedure at the Dollar household.

Stay tuned.
