Skyfall the 23rd James Bond movie to be released and the third featuring Daniel Craig in the lead roll, has a trailer that seems to point to a new direction for the series; it’s the first without an obvious James Bond Music reference.

Why this is, I do not know, but I suspect it’s in the same area of reasoning that led the producers to have Bond drinking Heineken beer for a cool $45 million. But that’s for another blog post; here’s the Skyfall movie trailer:

And to continue my point that the Skyfall trailer lacks an obvious Bond theme reference in its music, take a look at this trailer for Casino Royale (2006) where “Bond Music” is evident:

And the same is true for the sequel: Quantum Of Solace (2008):

We can go back to the original trailer for Dr. No, the first Bond movie (1962, the year I was born) which was hallmarked by the now familiar James Bond Theme. Take a look:

Whatever’s going on, it’s clear Skyfall marks something different. Just what or why, I do not yet know.

Stay tuned.
