The 2012 Kentucky Derby, the 138th, reportedly had its first homicide.

According to Boston.com, a man’s body was discovered in the stables area. But police strangely say there’s no connection to the Kentucky Derby or Churchill Downs. You know that’s PR spin, because the homicide happened at Churchill Downs and during the Kentucky Derby. That’s a connection in itself.

The spin doctor is Alicia Smiley, the spokesperson for the Louisville Metro Police. Smiley said that the death was being investigated as a homicide, and that there was no identification of the man as of this writing.

The body of the man was found in a barn that’s used by Louisville trainer Angel Montano Sr.. Montano didn’t have a horse in the Kentucky Derby.
