Another step in the Oakland Police Departments work to rebuild its relationship with the Oakland Community – and this is a good one.

Read from Oakland Local:

Meet Oakland Police Chief Howard Jordan, his executive team, other members of the department and the different services they offer during OPD’s first-ever open house from 5 to 7:30 p.m. this Friday, May 4, at the Police Administration Building.

In the past, OPD has come under a lot of scrutiny regarding its handling of the Occupy Oakland encampments and rallies. The department is working to regain the confidence of the community by becoming more open with the public and organizing events allowing the community to get to know those who vow to protect and serve in Oakland.

The open house is a great opportunity to learn more about the department and get to know the people who are here to keep Oakland a safe and inviting place to live and visit.

OPD Open House

When: 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 4

Where: Police Administration Building, 455 Seventh St. in Oakland

Well, go down there and thank OPD for handling a set of rock-and-hard-place positions it has been in.
