Mitchell Schwartz, Mychal Kendricks, Marvin Jones represent for Cal Football! (So far!)

While The Stanford Cardinal had several players go in the top rounds of the 2012 NFL Draft, from Quarterback Andrew Luck, the first player taken overall, to Tight End Cory Fleener, who will join Luck at Indianapolis, rival California players and Cal fans had to wait until the later rounds of the NFL Draft.

But not too much later.

Cal’s standout offensive tackle Mitchell Schwartz was taken by the Cleveland Browns in the 2nd round and linebacker Mychal Kendricks went to the Philadelphia Eagles in the same round, while punter Bryan Anger went to the Jacksonville Jaquars in the 3rd Round and star wide receiver Marvin Jones was taken by the Cincinnati Bengals (who used a trade from the New England Patriots to get him).

But with all that, the one player than can make a difference for some NFL team is still on the board: Michael Calvin.

Wide Receiver Michael Calvin posted the best Pro Day speed of any Cal pass catcher: a blazing 4.32 40-yard dash time. The only problem with Mr. Calvin is he was prone to injury, but not so much that he can’t be of value.

Hopefully Calvin will go – or become Mr. Irrelevant.

Stay tuned.
