The Oakland Builders Alliance, the advocacy group for Oakland’s Commercial Real Estate Industry, has a new executive director. And I’m proud to say she’s my business partner Beverly Rivas! Here’s the announcement:

Oakland Builders Alliance (OBA) Announces New Executive Director

Oakland, California (April 18, 2012) – Beverly Rivas, social media and marketing entrepreneur, has been appointed Executive Director of the Oakland Builders Alliance (OBA).

Over the last three months, Rivas has been working as the membership outreach coordinator, recruiting new members and re-structuring the organization. Under Rivas’ leadership, the organization has increased membership by 28%, implementing social media campaigns and hosting events.

Rivas is a Bay Area native and graduated from Saint Mary’s College of California with B.A. in Communication and Political Science. Rivas has over 7 years experience in marketing and real estate development working on such projects as the Oakland Fox Theater, the 901 Jefferson acquisition, and serving on the board of the Downtown Oakland Business Improvement District.

According to Mark McClure, OBA President and Partner at CCIG, “Beverly brings new energy, a fresh perspective and a strong knowledge of the building and development industry”. When asked about her vision of the organization, Rivas said “Although we have traditionally focused on the building trades industry, Oakland is filled with creative businesses that interact with the City Building Department – you don’t necessarily need to work with a hammer in your hand to be a builder. I am looking forward to incorporating Oakland’s entrepreneurial spirit as we strive to build a more sustainable city.”

Congratulations to Beverly Rivas!
