Mr. Irrelevant was started by Paul Salada in 1976 to celebrate the last player selected with as much fanfare as the first player generally receives. As the website put it, ” the almost totally unknown University of Dayton, Kelvin Kirk, became the last player selected in the NFL draft that year – Old #487 – and he was quite shockingly invited to Newport Beach for a week of upside-down celebrating and cheering.”
who was the 254th and last selection in the NFL Draft, and by the Houston Texans. Obviously winning what is called “The Lowsman Award” gave him the motivation necessary to make the team. It looked like that was going to happen, until Cheta was cut on September 3, 2011.
