Bobby Petrino was fired by Arkansas Athletic Director Jeff Long just about two hours ago, and in a very emotional press conference. The reason wasn’t just that Petrino lied about the fact that he has a “woman passenger” on his Harley Davidson on April Fools Day, but that Long found out something more sinister.

That, and as this blogger suspected in the initial blog post on this, and update, Jessica Dorrell and Bobby Petrino already had a relationship before he hired her for the position directly helping him March 28th, 2012, but that Dorrell had received $20,000 from Bobby Petrino and for reasons that are, to this time, not known.

And additionally not known is what Dorrell needed the $20,000 for.

In other words, Jessica Dorrell was, as I had stated before, Bobby Petrino’s “hand picked” aide, but the new news is they already had a sexual relationship, and she had $20K from him. The job was either the second tier of an already complicated engagement for Petrino, or a way to bring Dorrell closer to him, or both.

It also looks like that observation I made about Petrino getting a “reach-around” hand job from Dorrell was more true than previously thought.

The bottom line is that both Petrino and Dorrell not only had this sex scandal, but wound up hurting their loved ones. Jessica Dorrell was to be married to fellow Razorback Josh Morgan, who reportedly had no idea that anything was going on between his girlfriend, turned fiance and the head coach. Petrino’s wife Becky was clearly lied to, and she has four kids to answer to as well. That’s not right.

The lesson is, if you’re not being honest about what you’re doing, God will get you.

Petrino Ends A Great Career

Petrino throws out a great run, where his team went from 5 wins, to 8, then 10, and finally 11, losing only to Alabama. They were one loss from being national champions, and it was clear that Bobby Petrino had the Razorbacks pointed in the direction to be national champions in 2012.

Personally, and there’s more coming, I don’t think Bobby Petrino should have been fired for what he did. Yes, it’s a matter of job performance – you don’t throw the baby out with the bath water. It’s a matter of personal relationships. It’s an issue of maintaining stability in a college football organization that is now regarded as broken.

Stay tuned.
