It’s sad to read the news that actress Sean Young, who gained a large measure of fame for her performance in Blade Runner, was arrested for trying to crash the Governor’s Ball, the invitation-only bash thrown by the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Young was booked at The Hollywood police station after a citizen’s arrest, and posted $20,000 bail. She was released the next day, Monday.

Sad news.

According to TMZ.com, this is what happened:

Now we know what allegedly happened. We’re told Sean was standing near the entrance of the Governors Ball, taking pictures with friends when security guards realized she didn’t have a ticket so they asked her to leave. We’re told Sean left but came back shortly thereafter, and when security asked her to leave again, a guard may have placed his hand on her arm when Sean allegedly slapped him. She was then placed under citizen’s arrest for battery.

Sean didn’t have to do that, she could have come to the Night Of 100 Stars Party, instead. After all, she did in 2010, and that’s where she gave what still is one of the best interviews I have drawn from that event. Here it is:

I will say that whatever is going on in Sean Young’s life, the photo posted of her from October of last year looks awful. She has gained weight, and looking at her in the video above it’s clear she has put on an incredible amount of it.

Sean must get over the events that caused what she calls her being blacklisted from Hollywood. She reportedly went into rehab in 2008, after getting massively drunk and blasting Hollywood Director Julian Schnable in 2006 at the Director’s Guild Awards show.

She also reportedly tried to crash the 2006 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, but that effort failed too.

Fortunately, the LA County City Attorney declined to file charges due to “insufficient evidence” but the truth is she’s still Sean Young, and LA courts have better things to do than to spend a lot of time on a misdemeanor with a star who really should have been allowed into the party.

Hopefully Sean makes peace with herself, and comes to the Night Of 100 Stars Party in 2013.
