I never thought I’d say this, but Rush Limbaugh (shown here with New England Patriots Owner Bob Kraft at The Super Bowl in Indy) has gone way too far.

In calling Georgetown University Law Student Sandra Fluke a “slut” and a “prostitute” for going to Congress to testify in advocacy for the need for better access to birth control medicines, Rush has upset more Americans than I’ve ever seen.

And almost as worse, the Republican GOP Presidential Candidates are almost flatfooted in their response to the problem, with Mitt Romney just saying “those aren’t the words I would have used” which opens a new set of questions.

In addition, it’s obvious that Rush and others did not see Fluke’s testimony, where she did not mention sex. Here it is:

Rush Limbaugh Hits Perfect Storm

Rush Limbaugh hit the perfect storm in attacking Sandra Fluke, because she was already a rising media star, having appeared before Congress, and having been rejected to appear a week before by Republicans. On the Google Insight For Search barometer, Sandra Fluke was at 2, then at 10, before Rush’s attack pushed interest in her to 100, a level seen by A-list celebrities. On top of that, Fluke picked up over 8,000 new Twitter followers in just seven days.

Boycott Rush #BoycottRush

There’s a massive effort to get Rush’s sponsors to bail out on him, and so far, nine of them have reportedly done so: Legal Zoom, Citrix Success, Heart and Body Extract, AutoZone, Quicken Loans, Sleep Train, Sleep Number and Oreck. For more info go to http://www.boycottrush.org
