AEG is also the organization behind the 40 concerts Michael Jackson was preparing to do before he passed away on June 20, 2009.
Now, AEG has made a controversial bid to manage the Oakland Coliseum Complex, and because of rumors that it’s also trying to lure the Oakland Raiders, which play at the Oakland Coliseum, back to Los Angeles.
But now, AEG is in even hotter water because the firm’s the accused party in a Michael Jackson wrongful death lawsuit. One where famed Michael Jackson Doctor Arnie Klein has specifically pointed to AEG as being responsible for Jackson’s death and he did this in the Hollywood Edition of Vanity Fair.
On page 234, Klein denies that Demorol injections had anything to do with Jackson’s death,then says this: “If you don’t think everything’s interconnected, it is. AEG was behind the whole thing.”
Michael Jackson’s mother and his children have filed a wrongful death suit against AEG, and Vanity Fair reports “alleging that the company contributed to Michael Jackson’s death by pressuring him to go through with a concert he was physically unable to endure.”
AEG’s lawyer Marvin Putnam calls the lawsuit “ridiculous” in the same VF article.
Katherine Jackson holds that AEG, by its contract, had a legal duty to act responsibly toward Michael Jackson, and claims that AEG did not provide a doctor to look out for Jackson’s health.
There are two lawsuits against AEG regarding Michael Jackson’s death: one by his father Joe Jackson was thrown out of court because it should have been combined with Katherine Jackson’s active AEG lawsuit.
The lawsuit by Michael Jackson’s mother will not be heard until September 2012.
Oakland Coliseum Should Not Consider AEG
AEG is simply too hot to handle. That the Oakland Alameda County Coliseum Authority is even considering AEG for any kind of partnership at all at this time is something for concern and question.
