The 84th Academy Awards is this Sunday and if you’re wondering who’s nominated for what among the top awards categories, look no further than Zennie62.com. Without delay, here they are, courtesy of the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences:

Best Picture: The Artist, The Descendants, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, The Help, Hugo, Midnight in Paris, Moneyball, The Tree of Life, War Horse

Actor in a Leading Role: Demián Bichir, George Clooney, Jean Dujardin, Gary Oldman, Brad Pitt

Actress in a Leading Role: Glenn Close, Viola Davis, Rooney Mara, Meryl Streep, Michelle Williams

Directing: The Artist, The Descendants, Hugo, Midnight in Paris, The Tree of Life

Now this blogger’s predictions go as follows, as of this writing:

Best Picture: The Artist
Best Actor: Jean Dujardin for The Artist
Best Actress: Viola Davis for The Help
Best Director: Michel Hazanavicius For The Artist.

As I explain in the video below, the reason for the selection of The Artist for Best Picture, is based on Oscar statistical history. 70 percent of the time the film who’s director wins Best Director at The Director’s Guild, wins Best Director at The Academy Awards. The Best Director at the Oscars gets Best Picture award for that director’ movie.

For this year, that movie is The Artist, and 66 percent is a statistical sure thing, so 70 percent means it’s really likely to happen.

Here’s my video on The Help’s SAG Awards success and the rationale for my predictions:

What are your predictions?

Stay tuned.
