Call Lindsey Vonn Super Woman, or Super-Sexy Woman, because on Saturday at Krasnays Polyana, Russia, she won her fifth consecutive World Cup downhill title, then just 24-hours later, earned her third straight super-combined trophy.
The unfortunate catch was that the final race in the series was cancelled because of larger than normal snowfall in at the Sochi 2014 Olympics course.
On David Letterman Vonn talked about what the different ski races are:
Vonn told the Associated Press “You never want to have a (title) clinched with a canceled race,” Vonn said. “I had it happen to me last year at the finals for the overall globe, and I’ve won a super-combined title before in this way when they canceled the last super-combined in Crans-Montana. … I would love to have another chance to be on the podium, but today was just not meant to be.”
In total Super Woman, I mean Vonn, has won 14 World Cup titles. Moreover, she’s continued a massive streak of World Cup wins since last fall in November, when she and her husband Thomas Vonn announced they were getting a divorce. Then Vonn was linked with Tim Tebow, even as it was obvious she was spending time with his brother Robbie Tebow, and in general dealing with a ton of speculation about her personal life, including from this blogger.
Vonn has literally cut through all of that jazz, and with the help of what appears to be a fantastic, if new, support team, maintained and expanded on her domination of skiing.
