Adele
This blogger has been waiting for Twitter to release this info, and out it came today: the Grammys clocked in with a Twitter Tweets-Per-Second high of 10,901 – that’s about 901 more Twitter tweets more than that for the last three minutes of Super Bowl XLVI, or 10,000, just a week before the Grammys.

It’s the third time in about two months that the Twitter tweets-per-second record has fallen. Before the Super Bowl, the NFl AFC Wild Card Game with the Broncos hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers, clocked in at 9,420 Twitter tweets per second.

The Grammys topped two NFL sports events in the ultimate social media prize.

Unfortunately, it comes due to the sad and unexpected passing of Whitney Houston. That event fueled the audience for The 54th Grammys that Sunday, which was the most watched Grammys since 1984. The Twitter tweets-per-second high was set when Adele won ‘Record Of The Year.’

Twitter reports:

“Grammys” was mentioned in more than 5 million Tweets on Sunday between noon and midnight PT.

The most mentioned artists (in descending order) during that same 12-hour period were: @OfficialAdele, @ChrisBrown, @NickiMinaj, @Rihanna, Whitney Houston.

Stay tuned.
