For all of the tails of Soul Train creator Don Cornelius wanting to be out of his marriage and relationship with Russian model Viktoria Chapman after the two filed for divorce in 2009, all that apparently didn’t stop the pair, who were married in 2001, from being out in public together in 2010.

Reports are that Cornelius wanted out of his reportedly tumultuous relationship before he died, to prevent her from getting his insurance money. Regardless of his alleged plans, something’s not being correctly, because TMZ.com explains that legal docs show she was to receive all of the money from his two insurance policies, an amount totaling $300,000.
Even with the complications brought on by a stroke “in recent years” according to TMZ, it’s hard to believe Don would agree to such a payout if he didn’t want it. There’s more to the story because a lot of statements about how they related to each other just aren’t adding up.
But what is clear is that she looked out for him after their divorce. What is going on is the media’s taking statement Don made after the divorce process, and is using them to reflect his final thoughts about his ex-wife, when the reality is their feeling for each other have produced a far more complicated relationship.
