Today is Groundhog’s Day. The annual event where the famous groundhog Punxsutawney Phil rises from his hole in the morning in Pennsylvania. And, as the website for the popular critter reported:

Here Ye, Here Ye Here Ye

On Gobbler’s Knob on this magnificent Groundhog Day, February 2nd, 2012.
Punxsutawney Phil, the Seer Of Seers, the Prognosticator of all Prognosticators was summoned from his burrow in the old oak stump by the tap of President Bill Deeley.

He greeted his handlers John Griffiths and Ron Ploucha.

After casting an appreciative glance toward thousands of his faithful followers,

Phil proclaimed “As I look at the crowd, many shadows do I see. So six more weeks of winter it must be!

According to Phil’s Facebook page, people in the FL Keys, California, and Belfast Ireland are upset with him.

But not in Georgia, where they’ve got their own groundhog.

That’s right. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Georgia’s version of Punxsutawney Phil, General Beauregard Lee, said that spring was just around the corner. A fitting forecast considering Atlanta’s warm weather of late!

Well, it figures there would be two groundhogs: one a yankee, the other a confederate who lives on a “plantation style home.”

Not kidding.
