UPDATE!: Vonn wins 4th World Cup in one week!

Olympian Lindsey Vonn rather echoed what this blogger has said about her divorce, when, after winning three World Cup downhill races including a Super G last weekend, and one point setting a record in the process, and proving that she was the best at her craft and could do it without Thomas Vonn, Lindsey revealed to the Denver Post that the divorce from her husband Thomas Vonn was not a sudden thing, and “It’s something I’ve been dealing with for a long time,” Vonn said. “It’s part of everyone’s personal struggle, and while I’m maybe in the spotlight because of my skiing, I definitely don’t publically display any personal troubles I might have.

“Unfortunately this is something that is now public. I’m trying to deal with it the best way I can.”

And, as noted in the video below, Vonn did go out without her wedding ring on for some time before the divorce was announced, (and in Sports Illustrated she said her marriage was failing during the summer of 2011) so clearly something was wrong, and Vonn’s not so big a star that taboids noticed her out without her ring.

Vonn also said that she was not dating anyone at all, and that the love and support from her fans carried her through a hard time.

“It was really hard. Some days were better than others. Once I got into the weekend and the races, it got a little bit easier, but the training runs were definitely really hard. I got a lot of really nice words of encouragement. A lot of the girls came up to me, especially after the downhill races, and just were really happy for me. Those kinds of things went a really long way.”

The “Date” With The 16-Year Old

Some other bloggers have blasted this blogger for criticizing Vonn’s decision to go out with 16-year-old Parker MacDonald for his homecoming dance. They’re wrong. If the headline was “Le Bron James takes 16-year old Penny MacDonald to School Homecoming Dance,” you bet your butt there would be many, and many in the media, making comments like ‘In the wake of the Penn State situation, why would….” And it would go from there.

That Lindsey Vonn doesn’t hear such comments in the media is demonstrative of the fact that her sex and race give her a pass. That’s the fact, jack, and that’s all this blogger was pointing to.

Some have to take a time out and make efforts to realize and point to the primal urges that drive us as a society. This blogger enjoys pointing them out, because many don’t like to hear about them.

Stay tuned.
