Stanford Women Soccer 2011 National Champions!
The Stanford Cardinal Women have done it! They beat Duke in a close contest 1-0, and for their first NCAA women’s soccer title. The Stanford Cardinal Women are National Champions! But equally important, they posted a perfect season.

Stanford finished the year 25-0-1, and the last time they lost was in 2010, when they lost to Notre Dame in the 2010 College Cup Final, and had only one loss in 2010.

But 2011 was different.

This year was paced by four Stanford seniors – Camille Levin, Teresa Noyola, Lindsay Taylor, and Kristy Zurmuhlen, who the Stanford Athletic Department says “represent all that the program has accomplished.”

They say that the third time’s the charm. Perhaps next year the Cal Golden Bears can take Stanford’s place at the top, but for now we have to keep the love in the Bay Area.

Dammit.

Stay tuned.
