Miranda Kerr
Miranda Kerr and The Victoria Secret Fashion Show were the talk of the Internet for all of Wednesday, but this blogger skipped watching the Tuesday night telecast of what’s become a celebration of anorexically skinny women. Sorry, but as beautiful as Miranda Kerr is to many, in this space she’s just plain attractive, and that’s because of how thin she is.

It’s terrible to say to girls they they should not aspire to be so thin, then hold up women who are that thin as the role models for beauty in American Society. So we allow the idea of a girl sticking her finger in her mouth to vomit up bile and fat, and they think whatever low self esteem, only to find themselves deathly thin and just as miserable as they were before.

Hope Solo On The View
The idea that hyper thinness for women should be an objective is really one big massively mean and dangerous joke played on America. We know a lot of women don’t need to look like that to be considered hot, but the dirty little secret is we don’t tell the women who do look like that that their effort was not needed.

So, while the Miranda Kerr’s of the World are celebrated for their beauty, the Hope Solo’s of the World are told they’re too muscular, as happened to her on Dancing With The Stars. What Hope endured as scarred her in more ways than one, and that’s the fault of DWTS. The fact is, as my Mom observed “The chic has a classic beauty like Ava Gardner.” And a totally hot athletic body to go with it.

Hope Solo, or up-and-coming women’s tennis star Ana Ivanovic, or The Williams Sisters, should all be in the Victoria Secret Fashion Show, and not these skinny minis. It’s high time for a culture war to be waged, and high time for guys who like athletic women to stop being so wuss about expressing it, and cry out in support of it.
