Desean Jackson
The Philadelphia Eagles Wide Receiver, and former Cal Bears Star DeSean Jackson became a Twitter Trend, even though his name was misspelled to read “Deshawn Jackson.”

What started the tide of “Deshawn Jackson” tweets?

First, NFL fans are an informed group, and have opinions on every player and coach. DeSean Jackson is certainly no exception.

Jackson, who said he should get the same contract enjoyed by the top 5 receivers in the game, put himself in the focus of NFL fans just before the Eagles v. Giants Sunday Night Football game.

Sunday Night Football has arguably become the new Monday Night Football of the 21st Century, since it appears on the non-cable NBC television network.

Jackson didn’t play against the Arizona Cardinals, because he was benched for missing a Saturday team meeting before the Cardinals game. The Eagles lost that game 21 to 17, and at the time seemed to put them out of contention for the NFL Playoffs.

That was until the Eagles Giants game tonight, and Jackson brought his “A” game, returning a punt 51-yards to set up a touchdown pass to teammate Steve Smith by veteran backup Quarterback Vince Young.

Then Jackson caught a 50-yqrd pass that seemed to march the team, until it was erased by a taunting penalty against – Jackson himself. That started the flow of tweets with first DeSean Jackson, his name, then “Deshawn Jackson,” not his name.
