Manny Pacquiao won last night against Juan Manuel Marquez. Filipinos in America and in the Philippines were filled with joy and celebrating – even the president of the Philippines praised Pacquiao on his win, but it was very controversial in the judging. ABC News reports:

“One judge scored the fight even, as did The Associated Press. Two others had Pacquiao winning, 115-113 and 116-112. When the decision was announced, an infuriated Marquez stormed from the ring in protest, and fans started throwing beer bottles toward the ring. “

Marquez didn’t accept this defeat and said:

“”For me the best judges are the audience and you see how they responded,” Marquez said. “I don’t know what type of performance I need to give. It was a robbery once again.”

Fox News reports:

“It was the 15th straight win for Pacquiao, who earned a minimum of $22 million while improving his record to 54-3-2. Márquez, who earned $5 million, fell to 52-6-1.”

Congratulations Manny!
