The Texas Rangers become one of just five teams in American League Championship Series history since 1969 to win back to back ALCS series (the other teams were the Baltimore Orioles, Oakland Athletics, New York Yankees, and the Toronto Blue Jays), and return to the World Series.

And the Rangers did it in a way that could only be called explosive, winning by posting a football-type score, 15 to 5, and scoring nine runs in the third inning to pull past the Detroit Tigers and then closed out with five more runs in their final two innings.

Now, the Rangers have a golden chance to avenge their 2010 World Series loss to the San Francisco Giants, where they were nearly swept out of the series. “We wanted to get to the World Series. But the bottom line is getting to the World Series and winning it. We feel pretty confident about ourselves,” manager Ron Washington said to ESPN. “More than anything else, the commitment they made in November after San Francisco sent us home, they held true to it.”

Hats off to the Texas Rangers. They deserve to be the front runners for the 2011 World Series. This blogger will be pulling for them. This kind of success is rare and is to be supported when it happens.

Stay tuned.
