Autism has grown from a condition not widely known or understood 25 years ago, to part of the public conversation today. It’s estimated that one of 110 children is autistic, and even notables like Albert Einstein and Daryl Hannah have had autism as kids.
Autism, or the developmental disorder said to impact “the first 3 years of life, and affects the brain’s normal development of social and communication skills,” has attracted the money raising efforts of many, and Comic Con 2011 was no exception.
I had the pleasure of meeting Brain Constaintine, an artist for Sony Online Entertainment, who, with 23 of his artist colleagues, many who have autistic kids, created a book called Drawing Hope: A Sketchbook For Autism that was for sale at Comic Con and available online.
