That’s the headline: “BART’s Busy Week, And It’s Wednesday! (Mass Transit News)”

Yep. It’s not just the asbestos removal program that’s transformed San Francisco’s BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit System) Montgomery St. Station into something out of the Andromeda Strain, it’s last night’s shut down that, thank God, this blogger just missed, having made a trip to the Apple Store to buy an external hard drive. Oh, on that asbestos matter:

If you didn’t know about it, BART’s basically altering the walls of the station to remove a long-standing asbestos problem, and that’s a good thing. Just wish BART would inform people with visible signage!

Oh, that’s (Bay Area Rapid Transit System)!

But today, BART at least works, which is more than could be said for last night. BART Spokeman Linton Johnson may have scarred the heck out of everyone when he said that BART “didn’t know how” the outage happened, but give him, and BART, credit for being honest about it.

Still, this blogger wonders of BART’s starting to show signs of wear in the wrong places – like the computer software. Moreover, BART should be designed so that people can run it when the computers shut down. That’s a dangerous way to make a system – leaving it all to machines and computers in a hack-happy world.

Well, at least BART’s thinking – about new car seats!

Stay tuned.
