As this blog post is written, the San Francisco Marathon is well under way. There are 25,000 runners this year, far more than the 3,000 that were out when I ran it in 2001.

And with that many runners brings more demand for web-based updates. Apparently more than the SF Marathon website can handle. At various times this morning, this blogger has tried to visit the site, only to get this message: Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at http:www.thesfmarathon.com.

So I tried the RockMelt Browser, and got a similar message, then after refreshing, it – slowly – came – up.

Then it crashed again, when I clicked to another page on the site!

Love to see the final traffic numbers for the site!

Stay tuned.
