Instagram For Video
Instagram For Video
Look, Facebook’s new Instagram Video Sharing app is great, but the media types drinking the KoolAid are either being dishonest – which is what happens when KoolAid is consumed – or just plain totally out to lunch.

First, Facebook’s new Instagram Video Sharing app has an enormous problem that I pointed to in my last blog: videos don’t immediately upload, they hang – sometimes for hours.

I think, and this is just a hypothesis, that Instagram integrated their video production process into the same server as their photo production process, thus slowing down upload and processing times for both systems.

Instagram was, if that’ the case, better off segregating the two. If that’s an architecture problem, and it has to be, I’d give this whole hullabalou a month before it dies down and the whole deal’s panned.

Vine’s not threatened at all. Moreover, Vine’s a different kind of video app – it’s just six seconds long. You really can’t logically compare the two, and you’re better off putting it up against other video apps that are 15 seconds – like Tout.com.

But here’s this media heard mentality that defies common sense, and gives us benal, trite analysis when we need it the least.

The bottom line is my first blog post is covered with complaints about the video sharing processing time. A number of people reported that their videos did not upload after an hour of time.

When Tout.com started it didn’t have that problem and neither did Vidoco. And, come to think of it, neither did SocialCam or Viddy.

What a mess.

Thankfully, for Facebook, the media’s too drugged to report on it.

Stay tuned.
