Tweet Meta World Peace, or Ron Artest, was placed in the NBA’s Amnesty program, and much to the dislike of Kobe Bryant. On the day the Lakers added traveling center Chris Kamen, and to replace Dwight Howard, Meta World Peace’s high dollar contract was causing some pain. Tweet Marion Bartoli took advantage of Sabine Lisicki’s many unforced errors and played a consistent, strong, aggressive game of tennis to win the 2013 Wimbledon Ladies Singles Championship. It was a quick win: 6-1, 6-4, but it was also a match of drama, as Sabine Lisicki fans watched her fight through her own errors and tears that came with them, to open up a three game win streak, midway through the match. But Marion Bartoli was fast, much more so than anyone expected her to be, and she successfully chased down...

Tweet The San Antonio Spurs beat the Memphis Grizzlies, sweeping them in four games, to head to the NBA Finals and make the NBA boring in the process. At least the Golden State / Oakland Warriors can hang their heads high and say ‘At least we took them to a six game series.’ Now, the San Antonio Spurs, the NBA’s version of grass-growing television, wait for either the Miami Heat or The Indiana Pacers to finish their series. Tweet The 2012 Year in Sports will be remembered as the year of the fall of Lance Armstrong and the year of the rise of Michael Phelps. There’s no bigger story than the sudden and swift decision to strip all of the awards the former seven-time Tour de France winner accumulated since 1998. The International Cycling Union (UCI) took that dramatic action at the close of an investigation that seemed to want to find him guilty of doping. Now, Lance Armstrong’s gone from a totally beloved, do-no-wrong athlete to the...

Tweet Sports is all about big excitement, big crowds, and big business. But the sports industry is also missing out on a BIG opportunity. Sports make up a $650+ billion global industry, including everything from ballpark concessions and merchandise to media rights and sponsorship — and most of that revenue can be attributed, either directly or indirectly, to diehard fans.  But there is a far larger audience of casual sports fans who have greater access to sports than ever before — and they are being left out of the...
