There’s a lot happening in Oakland, California, so, unsing Twitter and real time search tools, let’s get caught up with what’s going on.
First, as of this writing Oakland Mayor Jean Quan’s introduced Interim Oakland Police Chief Howard Jordan at a community event talking about public safety in our town. While Mayor Quan may not be popular with the business community, and she dropped the leadership ball this week on the police chief issue, I give her credit for focusing on promoting events that bring the Oakland community together.
Occupy Oakland
The Occupy America movement has spread to Oakland, and regardless of what one thinks about it, the effort is in almost 200 cities in some form. To give a good idea of what Occupy Oakland looks like, and since I’m not in the city as of this writing, here’s a view of it, courtesy of some very good YouTube videos:
